Message Body

Sergeant Pepper is one of the most overrated, obtuse, and disjointed albums ever released.  I will not deny that it broke monumental ground with its cover art and musical content.  But I would not rank it in the top ten of any list.  The only reason it is important is because it was recorded by the Beatles.  If Sergeant Pepper was released with the same music and album art by the Frank Zappa, Rolling Stones or anyone else, it would have been relegated to a novelty album and forgotten over time.

This is what I believe the list of twenty should be.

1.  Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
2.  Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
3.  Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
4.  The Doors - Doors
5.  David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust & the Spiders from Mars
6.  Carol King - Tapestry
7.  Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed
8.  Velvet Underground & Nico
9.  Cream - Disreali Gears
10. The Beatles - Meet the Beatles
11. Allman Brothers Band - Live at the Fillmore East
12. West Side Story - The Original Soundtrack
13. Simon & Garfunkel - Bookends
14. Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced?
15. Blood Sweat & Tears - Child is Father to the Man
16. The Beatles - Sgt Pepper
17. Otis Redding - Otis Redding Sings Soul
18. Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed
19. The Byrds - Mr Tambourine Man
20. The Band - Music from Big Pink
