Message Body

I tried to see them at Pine Knob in '76, but it was posponed when Pete broke his leg on Craig's skateboard. (am I remembering correctly?) I saw them June 5, 1978, at Pine Knob, the night before I graduated.  Awesome!  I swear they played 4 1/2 hours with no opener.  They were having an "on night" for sure, and were really something to watch!  Craig was fired up the entire show, Grace was pulling riffs out of him all night, the band really seemed to be enjoying themselves so much, that I couldn't believe it when I heard they "crashed" just two weeks later in Hamburg.  They did material from just about every era up to that point,.....even "Sunrise" from "Blows," with all this yellow smoke and black light bulbs on the stage's edge surrounding Grace.  I remember they had a beautful intro. to "Count on Me" by Pete on the paino, and extra vocal arrangements at the end of the song.  The rythm guitar on "Love Too Good" was amazing......"St. Charles": goes without saying. They did about 3 or 4 "new" songs from a forthcoming album, one being "Light the Sky on Fire," of course.  A very special memory for me. Read about the 3-record live album....but........
