The only time since 1967 that Jefferson Whatever lost me around a bend was when they took that (IMHO)weird side trip towards bubblegum pop. I was very happy when Paul steered Jefferson Starship back to music that said something to me, that seemed to have some relevance to my life. This is my personal opinion, of course. I think Mickey Thomas has a really good voice, but I found the content of the music to be a bit too fluffy for my taste. One of the things that I loved about the Airplane that was missing from that era Starship was a sense of rebellion. Paul has brought the rebel, and the edge, back to the music. You have a different perspective, but I do think JS/TNG is cut from the same cloth, so to speak, as JA, whereas I could never figure where Starship was coming from. I guess I'm just not a big fan of pop music. Your musical tastes are not the same as mine, but what a dreary world it would be if we all liked the same stuff. |
As Bob Dylan put it so well: "You are right from your side and I am right from mine..."
