Sorry, Mike. No, you're not "up the creek". Far from it. If you're happy with MP3's, who is anyone to tell you that you shouldn't be? But there are better compression alternatives out there that preclude quality loss, the most prevalent being Shorten (SHN). The only downside is the files are considerably larger, and trying to download them via dial-up access to the internet is almost impossible.|
I love converting my shows to MP3, for use on my MP3 player at the gym. The quality drop off is quite tolerable (to me) for those purposes. But for true listening enjoyment, the perfect lossless replication of WAV files made possible by SHN is far preferable.
