Lots of the lps I liked then were owned by college roommates. This left me free to buy obscure dub/punk/free jazz stuff, much of which I resold at a loss soon after. I went to lots of live music & clubbing then- actually 79-81 I recall as more of a singles than album era, at least in Manhattan clubs- also many bands then only had a few good songs. Singles: Money by Flying Lizards is typical. A "guilty pleasure" might be B52's. Dylan's Street Legal & Slow Train Coming-latter featuring Mark Knopfler-a roommate had 1st Dire Straits   lp & I memorized that. Endless...
